Telangana crosses 73,000 mark in Covid cases, death toll reaches 589

Telangana announced 1,289 recoveries over the past 24 hours to take the total recoveries to 52,103 persons, constituting a recovery rate of 71.3% as against the national average of 67.19%.

HYDERABAD: Telangana on Thursday announced 2,092 new Covid positive cases, which take the total to 73,050 cases by Wednesday night, consisting of 65.6% men and 34.4% women.

The state suffered 13 Covid deaths afresh to take the total death toll to 589 so far, translating into a case fatality rate of 0.80% as against the national average of 2.09%. Of the deceased, 46.13% died of Covid and 53.87% due to comorbidities.

By Wednesday night, the state saw 20,358 active cases, which include 13,793 persons in either home or institutional isolation where about 84% were asymptomatic.

Over the past 24 hours, Telangana tested 21,346 samples to take the total to 5,43,489 tests to date. The state said 1,550 reports are still awaited.
