Telangana crosses 70,000-mark in Covid cases, death toll reaches 576

HYDERABAD:Telangana on Wednesday announced 2,012 new Covid positive cases, which take the total to 70,958 cases by Tuesday night, consisting of 65.6% men and 34.4% women.

The state suffered 13 Covid deaths afresh to take the total death toll to 576 so far, translating into a case fatality rate of 0.81% as against the national average of 2.1%. Of the deceased, 46.13% died of Covid and 53.87% due to comorbidities.

Telangana announced 1,139 recoveries over the past 24 hours to take the total recoveries to 50,814 persons, constituting a recovery rate of 71.6% as against the national average of 66.31%.


By Tuesday night, the state saw 19,568 active cases, which include 12,938 persons in either home or institutional isolation where about 84% were asymptomatic.

Over the past 24 hours, Telangana tested 21,118 samples to take the total to 5,22,143 tests to date. The state said 1,167 reports are still awaited.
