Telangana crosses 66,000-mark in coronavirus cases, death toll reaches 540

HYDERABAD: Telangana on Sunday announced 1,891 new Covid positive cases, which take the total to 66,677 cases by Saturday night, consisting of 65.6% men and 34.4% women.

The state suffered 10 Covid deaths afresh to take the total death toll to 540 so far, translating into a case fatality rate of 0.8% as against the national average of 2.15%. Of the dead, 46.13% died of Covid and 53.87% due to comorbidities.

Telangana announced 1,088 recoveries over the past 24 hours to take the total recoveries to 47,590 persons, constituting a recovery rate of 71.3% as against the national average of 64.53%.


By Saturday night, the state saw 18,547 active cases, which include 12,001 persons in home/ institutional isolation where about 84% were asymptomatic.

Over the past 24 hours, Telangana tested 19,202 samples to take the total to 4,77,795 tests to date. The state said 1,656 reports are awaited.
