Telangana crosses 64,000 mark in COVID-19 cases, death toll reaches 530

Telangana on Saturday announced 2,083 new Covid positive cases, which take the total to 64,786 cases by Friday night, consisting of 65.6% men and 34.4% women. The state suffered 11 Covid deaths afresh to take the total death toll to 530 so far, translating into a case fatality rate of 0.81% as against the national average of 2.18%. Of the dead, 46.13% died of Covid and 53.87% due to comorbidities.

Telangana announced 1,114 recoveries over the past 24 hours to take the total recoveries to 46,502 persons, constituting a recovery rate of 71.7% as against the national average of 64.54%. By Friday night, the state saw 17,754 active cases, which include 11,359 persons in home/ institutional isolation where about 84% were asymptomatic. Over the past 24 hours, Telangana tested 21,011 samples to take the total to 4,58,593 tests to date. The state said 883 reports are awaited.
