Telangana Congressmen plan Delhi visit to push statehood issue

Cong MPs, MLAs & Ministers from Telangana are planning to visit Delhi to pursue the separate statehood demand with the party leadership.

HYDERABAD: Congress MPs, MLAs and Ministers from Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh are planning to visit Delhi soon to pursue the separate statehood demand with the party leadership.

They will hold a meeting at the residence of state Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy here tomorrow to chalk out the future course of action, Congress MP Gutta Sukhender Reddy told reporters.

Having vociferously raised their demand in Lok Sabha ahead of the recess to the current Parliament session, the Telangana MPs now want to pursue the matter vigorously.

Significantly, the Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC) yesterday threatened to intensify the statehood agitation if the ruling Congress failed to make its stand clear on the contentious issue before Parliament resumed on April 24.

It said the Congress MPs and MLAs from Telangana should put pressure on the party leadership towards accepting the separate state demand.

The Telangna Congress MPs had played an active role in the separate statehood agitation last year and taken part in protests like rail blockades.
