Hyderabad: Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy's planned visit to the United States has been cancelled after the external affairs ministry denied political clearance for the trip, the CM's office said on Friday.

The Telangana government said it had sought permission for an official delegation to visit both the UK and the US. While clearance was granted for the UK leg, permission for the US visit was denied after the delegation had already reached the UK. It claimed that the denial of clearance stemmed from a "political angle".

Reddy, who is currently in London as part of the 'TelanganaRising' delegation, will now return to Hyderabad on Sunday instead of proceeding to Boston and New York.
