Speaker Meira Kumar ordered Lok Sabha TV to cut out the camera feed while the Telangana Bill was being voted in the House. This was most unfortunate.

Did she think that the behaviour of our elected representatives was of a kind that would not pass the ‘adult content’ test of TV?

In India, TV is not allowed to carry adult programmes. Or was she denying MPs the perceived incentive to be naughty, the mileage of publicity on TV?

In either case, she made a bad choice. The people of India have the right to see their MPs in live action, whether they merely vote or positively revolt.
