Tel Aviv names flower after Modi as dosti blooms

TEL AVIV: A new fast-growing Israeli flower was named after PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday , in a special gesture to mark the first visit of an Indian premier to the Jewish nation.

The Israeli chrysanthemum will now be called `Modi', officials in Tel Aviv said.

"New fast-growing Israeli chrysanthemum flower named in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be called "MODI". Indeed, a #GrowingPartnership!," Israel's official Twitter handle said in a tweet.

Earlier, Modi visited the Danziger 'Dan' flower farm along with his Israeli counterpart Netanyahu in Mishmar Hashiva where they were briefed about the latest floriculture technologies. “A symbol of blooming Indo-Israel relationship! In a special gesture, a new fast growing variety of chrysanthemum flower named after PM Narendra Modi," MEA spokesperson Gopal Baglay tweeted. Modi presented Netanyahu replicas of two sets of relics from Kerala that, regarded as key artefacts in the long Jewish history in India.
