Tejpal seeks interim bail from SC, says CCTV footage does not bear out the accusation
NEW DELHI: Former Tehelka editor Tarun Tejpal on Monday sought interim bail from the Supreme Court, which said it would only hear his plea in the sexual assault case after it had heard the versions of the state of Goa and the complainant.

Tejpal was represented by lawyer Harish Salve, who sought to allay fears that the accused would interfere in the case by offering to stay in Goa while on bail. Claiming that charges were yet to be framed, Salve sought bail for Tejpal.

He also sought to question the key evidence in the case, the hotel CCTV footage, saying they did not bear out the accusation. "We have sought video footage of the CCTV of the hotel," he said.

The bench led by outgoing chief justice P Sathasivam issued notices to Goa and the complainant. The notices have to be replied to in four weeks.
