Tejpal incident should not tar image of all journos: Mark Tully
KOLKATA: Veteran BBC journalist Mark Tully today said Tehelka founder-editor Tarun Tejpal's alleged sexual harassment of a junior colleague should not be held to tar the image of all professional journalists.

"I have read and heard about the incident. But I really don't know the truth. I can say one thing that it will be really unfortunate if this single incident tars the image of other journalists working in this profession," Tully told PTI on the sidelines of a programme here.

Tarun Tejpal's alleged sexual misdemeanour has given rise to questions being asked over the work atmosphere in media houses where women are employed.

Tully, who worked as BBC correspondent in India for for nearly half a century, said he during his long association with India can never recall an incident where a senior editor has been accused of sexually assaulting his women colleague.

"I have been a journalist in India for several years. I really can't remember a similar allegation being made against a journalist," said Tully.
