Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader, began the 'Abhaar Yatra' on Tuesday from Samastipur. Yadav has embarked on the yatra to assess the sentiment of people ahead of the elections.
According to RJD sources, the current yatra is focused on meeting with grassroots party workers, gathering feedback, and including them in making of strategy.
Yadav had toured the state during the Lok Sabha polls. However, the party's results were disappointing, obtaining only four LS seats. "In terms of seats, we improved our performance this time. Our vote share grew by 9%. We received approximately 40% of the votes, while the NDA received 43%. Shakti Yadav, RJD chief spokesperson, told ET.
In Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Muzaffarpur, RJD is electorally weaker. The party won eight seats in these four districts in 2020 assembly elections. Tejashwi Yadav began his eight-day yatra in these four districts to boost their standing. In a closed-door meeting, he lets booth-level party workers discuss issues and suggestions.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is also preparing to embark on another statewide yatra. Kumar has already undertaken multiple yatras, the most recent of which was in 2023. According to ET, preparations for Kumar's yatra are well underway. This time, during his journey, Kumar will connect with women and solicit feedback on the government's women-focused projects. The yatra itinerary will be released after the dates have been decided.
