Teens from US, UK among 16 new cases in Delhi
Even as the number of people coming to hospitals for screening on Thursday saw a slight decline, the number of positive cases shot up to 16.

NEW DELHI: Even as the number of people coming to hospitals for screening on Thursday saw a slight decline, the number of positive cases shot up to 16. It was seven on Wednesday. According to Delhi government officials, the total is now 328 cases in the capital. Three of the new cases are those who had come in from an infected country. The government also sent 251 more samples for testing on Thursday.
Said a senior government official, ������ Three cases were of those who travelled abroad. While one was a 14-year-old boy who had come from UK, another was a 17-year-old who had travelled from the US. A 19-year-old boy also tested positive, he had travelled from China.������ The boy from UK had arrived in India on August 5, while the 17-year-old from US had come on August 10. The who came from China arrived on August 7. While one is admitted in RML, the other two are admitted in Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital and another government hospital in Rohini. These, however, were the only cases which were from abroad. The other 13 cases were indigenous cases.
Out of the 13, two are males while three are female adults. One of the adults is a doctor of Lok Nayak, who tested positive and is admitted at the hospital. The rest 11 positive cases are of children aged between 10-17 years. A 16-year-old male student of GD Goenka School is one of the cases, while a 13-year-old girl tested positive from Shri Ram school. Another 11-year-old boy, a student of Apeejay School Noida, also tested positive. Sources said that a student from a government school in east Delhi was also admitted after testing positive.
The three serious cases reported on Tuesday at RML are undergoing treatment. Doctors at the hospital said they are responding well.
Most of the cases came from Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and Madan Mohan Malviya Hospital, with the rest coming from Lal Bahadur Shastri, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Lok Nayak and Safdarjung. Officials said the number of positive cases had now touched 328. The good news though is that of the 328 positive cases reported in Delhi, 292 have been treated . A fact that state health minister, Kiran Walia, said is an extremely positive point. ������ We have been trying to ensure that reaction to the flu ��� through screening and testing and treatment ��� is prompt. Till now, our responses have worked out.������
