Police had acted on specific intelligence about a suspected drug party at a farmhouse owned by a former legislator. During the operation, a small quantity of suspected narcotics was seized and those present were subjected to medical tests as part of the investigation. Subsequent blood tests reportedly indicated drug consumption by several individuals, including the MP, while the probe into the source of the narcotics is ongoing.
In response, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu moved quickly to distance the party from the controversy and uphold its stated zero-tolerance stance on drugs. The party leadership directed MP Putta Mahesh to stay away from party activities and ordered that formal notices be issued seeking an explanation regarding the incident.

Making the party’s position clear, Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that no individual—regardless of position—will be spared if involved in drug-related activities, and that the party will not allow the mistakes of individuals to tarnish its reputation.
