The protests against Maharashtra’s controversial Babhali irrigation project took a new turn when opposition TDP activists were caned by police in the neighbouring state as they made an unsuccessful bid to storm the project site.

NANDED: The protests against Maharashtra’s controversial Babhali irrigation project took a new turn when opposition TDP activists were caned by police in the neighbouring state as they made an unsuccessful bid to storm the project site. TDP sources said 20 of its party workers were injured in cane charge at Dharmabad in Nanded district, about 10 km from the project site.
