Taxi drivers' verification to be completed in a month: Police
LUCKNOW: Close on the heels of the alleged rape of a woman by a cab driver in New Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh police today said that verification of all taxi drivers and tenants would be done in a month.

Inspector General of Police (law and order) A Satish Ganesh told reporters here that the verification drive would be completed in a month.

The 32-year-old cabbie Shiv Kumar Yadav, was arrested yesterday in his home town Mathura for raping the woman.

Yadav would not have been behind the wheel of the Uber taxi had the US-based company run a background check and got police verification done as he had earlier been jailed too in a rape case.
