Tax for parking cars on roads outside houses

There was a plan to impose Rs 50 parking fee per month on all those who use the Corporation built road for parking.

BANGALORE: Car owners be prepared to pay tax if you are parking your vehicle on the road oustide your home, as the Karnataka Government is mulling a levy of such a kind to discourage owning four-wheelers without garage facility.

Going by the thinking of the government, it is likely to entrust the task of collecting the parking fee from car owners to the Bruhut Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Transport Minister R Ashoka told reporters that there was a plan to impose Rs 50 parking fee per month on all those who use the Corporation built road for parking in front of their houses.

This would help the government discourage people from owning four-wheelers without garage facility, he said.

Ashoka said there was also a thinking that, those who own more than one car, will have to prove that they have parking facility at their house, failing which the additional cars will not be permitted to be registered.
