Tax evaders will be dealt with sternly: Trade tax department

GHAZIABAD: In a stern warning to restaurants and public schools evading taxes, a top state trade tax official has asked them to pay their dues on time or face actions.

"Tax evasion by restaurants and public schools will be dealt with sternly," said Uttar Pradesh Commissioner of Trade Tax Mritunjay Kumar Narayan while addressing a conference of trade tax officials here.

"We have been receiving regular complaints relating forging of bills by hotels, restaurants and eateries. They charge tax amount from customers but do not deposit that with government.

"On the spot raids would be conducted by the department in order to check such practices," said Narayan.
