Tata Trusts rolls out development plans for 264 villages in Vijayawada
Tata Trusts signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GOAP) to work towards community empowerment.

According to a statement, the programme intends to implement interventions in the thematic areas of bamboo cultivation, fisheries, nutrition and fortification, along with microplanning and village development based on the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna (SAGY).
Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu said, “This is the first time such a huge number of villages are being adopted. This will set an example in the country as it will be mentored by Industry titan Ratan Tata.The Government will work with Tata Trusts in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, Backward Classes Welfare, Consumer Affairs Fool & Civil Supplies, Environment, Forests, Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Industries and Commerce, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development, Planning, Social Welfare, Women Development, Child Welfare and Disable Welfare, etc. and key projects such as NRLM, MGNREGA, NRHM and SAGY."
The statement added that an adequately staffed Programme Management Unit (PMU) will be set up to ensure effective and timely implementation of the proposed multi-thematic plans.
Mr. R Venkataramanan, Executive Trustee, Tata Trusts, said in a statement, “We will support the state and administrative bodies in implementation of the multi-thematic development plans in 264 villages in the Vijayawada constituency post the micro planning process. In collaboration with the GOAP, we will develop model villages on the lines of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana with innovation and technology as key components, with a broad framework of enhancing social security and infrastructure development through implementation of central and state-level schemes, improved drinking water and sanitation systems and several livelihood enhancement programmes."
