Tata power plant: Villagers submit their consent to Collector
The opposition to the land acquisition for Tata company's power plant in Raigad district is likely to be resolved with farmers giving their consent on the issue with a rider that they be adequately compensated.
Farmers from the Shahpur and Dherand villages on Saturday submitted their consent to the Collector for the proposed power plant project with some demands.
"Farmers want a good compensation for their lands, employment for a family member and civic facilities for the villages," said an official from the Collector office. Maharashtra Government had issued notices to the farmers in March asking them to submit objections over the power plant project.
Earlier, the villagers had refused to talk to the Collector over the issue in a meeting convened by him. However, a letter signed by 226 farmers was submitted to the Collector saying that the problems between the management of company and villagers have been sorted out.
