MUMBAI: A senior Tata Motors official accused of misconduct as part of the #Me-Too movement has been relieved from services with immediate effect, according to an internal company memo.

Allegations against Suresh Rangarajan, the corporate communications chief at Tata Motors, had surfaced on Twitter in mid-October that resulted in the company holding an internal inquiry.

Announcing the “organisational change”, on Wednesday, Gajendra S Chandel, the head of human resources informed employees through a cryptic internal memo of the decision: “Suresh Rangarajan, senior GM corporate communications has been discharged from the company’s services with immediate effect.”

Rangarajan’s name cropped up as part of the MeToo movement that has taken the social media by storm starting October. As a result, the company had asked him to take leave until the investigations against him were underway. “Allegations are being investigated and appropriate action will be taken immediately as soon as the inquiry is complete,” the company had tweeted on October 12.
