Tarun Tejpal to appear before Goa police tomorrow

NEW DELHI: Facing imminent arrest, Tarun Tejpal today informed the Goa police that he will appear before it tomorrow in the alleged sexual assault case lodged against him.

"We have sent a fax to the Goa police and have informed them that Tarun Tejpal will join the investigation tomorrow," his counsel Sandeep Kapur said.

The decision to join the investigation tomorrow came shortly after the Goa police rejected the Tehelka editor's request for time till Saturday to appear before it and did not rule out his arrest after he failed to present himself today before the 3 PM deadline set by it.

Earlier in the day, Tejpal also preferred to withdraw the petition seeking anticipatory bail from the Delhi High Court which was to pronounce its order tomorrow.

Tejpal has been charged with the offence of sexual assault of his junior woman colleague by the Goa Police in a five star hotel lift earlier this month.
