Tarun Gogoi urges PM Modi to release funds from DoNER ministry
GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi sought release of the funds of the Union ministry of DoNER.

In a letter to Prime Minister Modi, Gogoi pointed out that the Ministry of DoNER has not sanctioned projects from the priority lists of 2014-15 though the State has already submitted Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of 19 projects against 20 retained projects amounting to Rs 296.17 crore.

Gogoi said the State Government has completed 373 projects out of the 619 sanctioned projects under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) amounting to Rs 2643.81 crore with fund utilisation being remarkably 83 per cent. “As completion of the projects now under different stages of implementation being crucial for the development of the State, non-release of funds on a timely basis not only hampers the progress of these vital projects but also leads to cost overruns,” he said.

Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister to issue necessary instruction to the Ministry of DoNER for streamlining the process of release of funds on priority basis.
