Tarun Gogoi accuses centre of backtracking on Act East Policy
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today labelled the Modi Government at the Centre of 'back tracking' on its 'Act East Policy'.

In a statement here, Gogoi asserted, "by indulging in shoddy treatment to Assam in particular and the North East in general, and revoking the 'special category status' to the region, the 'Act East Policy' would find it difficult to reach its avowed objective".
The Chief Minister asked how the Modi Government would fulfill its poll promises like generating more employment avenues, attracting investments and creating industries in the region when the North East Industrial Investment and Promotion Policy was suspended by it.
The Centre has also disappointed the social sector in Assam by slashing the fund allocation of centrally sponsored schemes, the Chief Minister claimed.
