Tamil Nadu reports highest ever single day spike in Covid-19 cases
As many as 56,021 have been discharged from the hospitals after fully recovering from the virus. The recoveries also include 3095 new recoveries on Thursday alone.

There are 41047 active cases in the State, according to the media bulletin.
On Tuesday, the State recorded 3943 cases.
The death toll too rose to 1321 after 57 more people succumbed to the infection on Thursday.

Chennai continues to be the worst affected district in the State with 62598 cases in all and 2027 of which were on Thursday.
Chennai and neighbouring districts like Chengelpet, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram have been under an intense 12-day lockdown from June 19. This lockdown has been extended till July 5 after which there will be easing of restrictions, much like what was done during the Unlock 1.0 period. However, the general state-wide lockdown is on till July 31.
The State has 91 testing facilities and has tested over 12 lakh samples, the bulletin said.
