Tamil Nadu reports 1927 new cases of Covid-19

​The State now has 36,841 new cases and is among the worst affected States in the country. With each passing day, the numbers have been rising steeply.

The number of cases have risen rapidly post the beginning of Unlock 1.0 where the State government had announced a slew of relaxations.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu reported a whopping 1927 new cases of Coronavirus, setting yet another record spike.

The State now has 36,841 new cases and is among the worst affected States in the country.

With each passing day, the numbers have been rising steeply.


Of the 1927 fresh cases, 1392 cases are from Chennai, which is the worst affected district in the State.

The State capital has seen 25,937 cases so far.

The number of cases have risen rapidly post the beginning of Unlock 1.0 where the State government had announced a slew of relaxations.

These included e-commerce delivery of non-essential items, opening up of shops including large establishments and allowing people to go to work. Malls and theaters, however, have continued to remain shut.

There were 1008 patients who were discharged on Wednesday and 19 new Covid deaths were reported taking the tally of recoveries to 19,337 with 326 deaths.
