Chennai too continued its trend of reporting cases under 1000 as 993 people tested positive for the infection on Wednesday.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu managed to keep up its streak of under 6000 cases with the State reporting 5871 Covid-19 positive cases on Wednesday.

This takes the total tally to 314520 in the State, the government media bulletin confirmed.

The death toll, however, breached the 119 mark again, the highest ever so far, for the third time on Wednesday. Earlier, 119 people died of the virus on Sunday.


The total number of Covid related fatalities in the state now stands at 5278, according to the bulletin.

Chennai too continued its trend of reporting cases under 1000 as 993 people tested positive for the infection on Wednesday.

Among the other districts, Chengalpet and Thiruvallur reported over 400 cases while Cuddalore and Kancheepuram had more than 300 cases. Coimbatore, Ranipet, Salem, Theni, Virudhunagar though had over 200 cases on Wednesday, the bulletin confirmed.

Testing, however, touched another all time high with 69697 people being tested on Wednesday alone.

The number of recoveries stood at 5633 on Wednesday, taking the total count of recoveries to 256313 in the State.
