Tamil Nadu records another high in testing with 73,631 people tested today

The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tamil Nadu remained relatively steady on Wednesday with 5,958 people testing positive for Covid-19. The numbers have remained below the 6,000-mark for the last six days.

The number of deaths, however, more than doubled from Tuesday with 118 people succumbing to the infection, taking the death toll to 6,839 so far.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu tested 73631 people on Wednesday, the highest so far.

Earlier, it had conducted a record 73,162 Covid-19 tests last Thursday.

The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tamil Nadu remained relatively steady on Wednesday with 5,958 people testing positive for Covid-19.


The numbers have remained below the 6,000-mark for the last six days.

The total number of cases in the state stands at 397,261.

The number of deaths, however, more than doubled from Tuesday with 118 people succumbing to the infection, taking the death toll to 6,839 so far.

In Chennai, 1,290 people tested positive, while Coimbatore and Salem had over 400 cases. Kancheepuram recorded 329 cases while Chengalpet, Cuddalore and Thiruvallur had over 200 cases.

The number of recoveries stood at 5606, taking the total count of recoveries in the state to 338,060.
