Tamil Nadu political turmoil: Panneerselvam isolated

CHENNAI: Minutes after his controversial statement that he was forced to sign his resignation letter under duress, TN's caretaker CM O Panneerselvam finds himself isolated as his cabinet colleagues are in a huddle at Poes Garden with AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala.

In a late night development after a sensational press conference on Marina beach held by Panneerselvam, some of the state cabinet ministers assembled at Poes Garden.

A party source said that there was no information on the nature of discussion going on inside the residence of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa where her close aide V Sasikala now stays. A party source also said it may not be right to say the entire cabinet apart from Panneerselvam was present there.

With Panneerselvam indicating that he was willing to withdraw his resignation if that is what the people Tamil Nadu wanted, Aiadmk clearly is not one cohesive unit on Tuesday night.

DMK working president M K Stalin reacting on the situation said the onus is now on the TN Governor to ensure he takes the right steps to ensure a stable government in the state.
