Tamil Nadu hovers around 6,000 mark for the third day in a row

Chennai: The number of Covid-19 positive cases in Tamil Nadu hovered around the 6,000 mark for the third day on Sunday with 5,975 people testing positive for the infection.

This, however is lower than the numbers on Friday (5995) and Saturday (5980) and has taken the total number of cases in the state to 379,385.

The state now has 53,541 active cases.


The number of deaths, however, went below the 100 mark on Sunday providing some respite. The State reported 97 deaths on Sunday which brought the overall death toll in the State to 6517, according to the state bulletin.

The state tested 68111 people for the infection on Sunday, which is lower than the record figure of 73,162 Covid-19 tests on Thursday.

Chennai too remained steady with 1,298 people testing positive.

The number of recoveries stood at 6047, taking the total count of recoveries in the state to 319,327.
