Jayalalithaa hailed the teaching community for imparting not only education but also in developing good conduct and cultivating self-confidence among students.

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, DMK President M Karunanidhi and leaders of various political parties today greeted the teaching fraternity on the eve of Teachers' Day.

"On the occasion of Teachers' Day, the birthday of former President of India, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to teaching fraternity." Rosaiah said in a Raj Bhavan release.

"I appeal to the teaching fraternity to be a source of inspiration and motivation and a role model to students.", he said.

Jayalalithaa hailed the teaching community for imparting not only education but also in developing good conduct and cultivating self-confidence among students.

Stating that the Government has been honouring teachers with the "Dr Radhakrishnan Award" every year, she wished the receipients of those persons shortlisted for the award this year.

DMK President M Karunanidhi recalled the efforts taken by him for the teaching fraternity during the DMK regime.
