Tamil Nadu government files defamation case against state Congress chief Elangovan

Elangovan had allegedly made the remarks in an interview to a TV channel on April 30 against Governor K Rosaiah, the complaint said.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government today filed a criminal defamation case against Tamil Nadu Congress Committee ( TNCC) chief E V K S Elangovan for his alleged remarks against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

City Public Prosecutor M L Jegan filed the case before the Principal Sessions Court.

According to the City Public Prosecutor , Elangovan had allegedly made the remarks in an interview to a TV channel on April 30.

CPP said the case was filed as Elangovan's remarks were defamatory in nature.

On May 11, the government had filed a criminal defamation case against Elangovan for his alleged remarks against the Governor K Rosaiah.
