Tamil Nadu death toll rises to 28 as cases remain under 2200

Chennai's cases went down further on Wednesday with 571 people testing positive for the infection as opposed to 577 on Tuesday.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu's death toll owing to Covid-19 increased marginally from 25 on Tuesday to 28 on Wednesday, making the total death toll in the State touch 11,415.

The number of cases too went up from 2147 on Tuesday to 2184 on Wednesday. This pushes the total tally of cases in the State to 750,409 cases, the state media bulletin confirmed.

The State has consistently been showing a decline in cases over the last few weeks, providing some relief in the State which has been among the worst-affected in the country.


Chennai's cases went down further on Wednesday with 571 people testing positive for the infection as opposed to 577 on Tuesday.

The number of recoveries went down from 2237 on Tuesday to 2210 on Wednesday, taking the total discharges to 720,339.

Testing, however, went up from 71,511 on Tuesday to 76,572.
