The meeting is taking place days after the Congress conveyed to coalition leader DMK its wish for an increased share of seats and a pre-poll commitment on power-sharing, even as DMK leaders responded by ruling out any power-sharing in the state.
ET had reported on December 23 that the All India Congress Committee in-charge Girish Chodankar had conveyed to DMK chief MK Stalin the Congress wish list. During Saturday's meet, expected to be attended by Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, a section of Tamil Nadu Congress leaders could broach the power-sharing issue and express a wish for at least six ministerial berths for the party if the DMK-led alliance retains power. While a section of Congress wants to keep Vijay-led TVK as a potential alliance option, many leaders are wary of any "misadventure" with the DMK risking their long partnership.
