Tamil Nadu CM orders water release from Amaravathi Dam for irrigation

CHENNAI: Chief Minister O Panneerselvam today ordered release of water from Amaravathi dam from tomorrow for irrigation purposes in new and old ayacut areas in Tirupur and Karur districts.

"The request of farmers in the new and old ayacut areas in Tirupur and Karur has been accepted and release of water has been ordered from tomorrow," he said in an official release.

The water will help irrigate 47,117 acres of land in Tiurupur and Karur Districts, the release added.
