Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa congratulates Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today congratulated Sumitra Mahajan on her unanimous election as the Lok Sabha Speaker, saying it was a fitting recognition of her long and distinguished career as a Parliamentarian.

"It is a fitting recognition of your long and distinguished career as a Parliamentarian and your dedicated service to the people whom you have effectively represented in the Lok Sabha," she said in her message to Mahajan.

She said Mahajan's "rich experience and maturity" were bound to ensure smooth conduct of the 16th Lok Sabha.

"I convey my good wishes to you for a successful tenure", Jayalalithaa said in her letter.
