NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu assembly unanimously passed Jallikattu bill to replace the ordinance issued earlier.

After the Supreme Court ban on the bull sport in Tamil Nadu, the state has been hit by protests and agitations in last one week.

Despite promulgation of an ordinance on Saturday for conducting the sport, the protesters had vowed to carry on with their agitation till a permanent solution was found to ensure that the sport is held annually without any hindrance.

In Jallikattu, a bull vaulter is expected to hang on to the animal's hump for a stipulated distance or hold on to the hump for a minimum of three jumps made by the bull.

The sport is traditionally held as part of the four-day Pongal festival in the state.

The Supreme Court in May 2014 banned the conduct of Jallikattu.
