Tamil Nadu allows shops to remain open till 10pm from Thursday; Covid cases remain under 4000

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday announced that it will allow all shops and commercial establishments in the state to function till 10pm from Thursday.

The State reported 3086 cases on Wednesday as opposed to 3096 on Tuesday, taking the total tally in the State to 697,116 cases.

Chennai too remained under 1000 with 845 people testing positive for the infection on Wednesday. The results of Covid-19 Serosurvey-II carried out in Chennai showed that out of 6,389 sero survey samples tested, 2,062 samples were positive for IgG antibodies presence. The overall positivity stood at 32.3%.


The number of deaths too went down to 39 deaths on Wednesday, taking the total death toll to 10,780.

As many as 4301 people recovered from the infection on Wednesday, and the total recoveries now stand at 650,856.
