Take effective steps to manage India's borders, RSS tells govt

KOCHI: RSS today urged the Central government to take effective steps to manage India's borders, apparently in the wake of the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan and also to check 'jehadi radicalisation' across the country, especially in Southern states, including Kerala.

On the second day of its National Executive, it passed two resolutions, underlining the need to strengthen infrastructure along the country's borders and expressed grave concern over the 'growing radicalisation' of Jehadi forces.

Briefing reporters, RSS Joint General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale pointed out that India shares borders with eight countries and people there were living in pathetic conditions and on the Indo-Pak border, where they are in constant fear.

The RSS demanded that steps be taken to secure the 4057 km long India-Tibet border, which it claimed was the most 'neglected' one.

In another resolution, the Executive expressed grave concern over the 'growing radicalisation' of Jehadi forces, particularly in the southern states and alleged that the lackadaisical attitude of successive state governments to these 'nefarious forces' has become a worrying factor.

Indian borders areas in Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar have 'become safe havens for illegal trade, fake currency, smuggling of weapons, trafficking in human and drugs', the resolution said, adding that anti national forces use these borders to slip over into the neighbouring countries.

The resolution urged the Union government to give top priority to the providing basic infrastructure like roads, rail network, electricity, water, schools along border areas, constitute Village Defence committees and give appropriate training and incentives to people in the area.

RSS also demanded an independent border management authority to manage affairs along all borders,complete fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border and strengthen border security.
