Take a peek into movies via stamps

To acknowledge the influence of movies on our society, Indian Post is organising a two-day event on Indian cinema titled ‘Magic of Film’ through postage stamps and the philatelic exhibition titled ‘Mahafilmpex’.

MUMBAI: To acknowledge the influence of movies on our society, Indian Post is organising a two-day event on Indian cinema titled ���Magic of Film��� through postage stamps and the philatelic exhibition titled ���Mahafilmpex���.

Giving details about the event, chief post master general M P Rajan said, "Indian Post is paying tribute to the film industry. We are organising a two-day programme beginning March 17 which will showcase some landmark movies, too.���

The postal department will also release the commemorative stamp on Madhubala, the legendary beauty of the Indian cinema, on the last day of Mahafilmpex. During the event, a special DVD detailing stamps on Indian films will also be released.

A booklet containing list of stamps from 1854, when first stamp were released, to 2007 and merchandising related to philatelic themes will be published. ���It will highlight the confluence of cinema and the post office,��� said Mr Rajan.
