Taiwan to send medical equipment to India

​​Earlier, India had procured PPEs and ventilators from China. Key medical supplies have also been obtained from other East Asian states such as South Korea and Japan, besides Singapore.

NEW DELHI: Taiwan is preparing to dispatch medical equipment to help India’s Covid-19 crisis. ET has learnt some critical medical supplies from Taiwan are being commercially procured and will reach India in near future.

Earlier, India had procured PPEs and ventilators from China. Key medical supplies have also been obtained from other East Asian states such as South Korea and Japan, besides Singapore.

During a phone call with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday, PM Narendra Modi appreciated the technology based response deployed by Korea for managing the crisis.


Modi on Friday also spoke Japan’s PM Shinzo Abe. The leaders agreed that the India-Japan partnership could play a critical role in helping the world find solutions to the challenges arising out of the pandemic, according to a MEA statement.

Meanwhile, during a call with Modi, Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli appreciated the former’s initiative in coordinating the response to the pandemic among SAARC countries.
