Syria situation increasingly dangerous: India
"The Syrian situation on the ground is getting increasingly complicated and dangerous. There are various factors attributed to that," sources said.
New Delhi also condemned the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria by both the government troops and the rebels, and supported a UN probe into the alleged incidents.
"The Syrian situation on the ground is getting increasingly complicated and dangerous. There are various factors attributed to that," government sources said.
They added "we have seen extremism, terrorism coming into the region, not just from the Arab world but also from outside, our region, from the West .. that is complicating the issue pretty much".
They said that with European Union announcing easing of arms embargo and Russia stating that it will continue to supply sophisticated weapons to the Syrian government, the question about these arms possibly falling into wrong hands arises.
The sources underlined that "enormous amount of money, intelligence and training are being pumped into this region by regional countries plus implicitly by other countries as well".
"As of now, the most promising prospect seems to be US- Russia sponsored conference - Geneva 2 - which will be under the auspices of the UN," they said.
