Swine flu has become a major health concern in parts of India, already infecting around 12,000 people and killing 743 in 2015, compared with 218 casualties from 937 cases in 2014.

Among the most affected states are Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Industry body Assocham recently estimated that the tourism and aviation sectors could lose Rs 5,500 crore thanks to the spread of swine flu in Rajasthan and Maharashtra.
