NEW DELHI: Hoping to boost Swedish investments across sectors, including retail and manufacturing, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven arrives in India on February 13 on his maiden trip to the country as the head of government with a Swedish delegation to take part in the ‘Make in India’ week in Mumbai.

Löfven is among the few foreign heads of governments who will be joining the mega ‘Make in India’ show that hopes to give Indian manufacturing sector a boost. Speaking to ET on Löfven’s trip, Swedish Ambassador to India Harald Sandberg said the two-day trip holds significance to push investment ties.

“Swedish investments in India came in various waves in the past century. These are essentially located in the NCR, Pune and Bengaluru region. The current objective is to push Swedish SMEs in India,” said Sandberg. This is Löfven’s maiden trip to India as Prime Minister, as in the past he has visited this country in different other ministerial capacities.
