KOLKATA: The Trinamool Congress on Tuesday removed senior party MP Sisir Adhikari, father of the recently-defected BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari from the post of chairman of Digha Sankarpur Development Authority (DSDA).

TMC MLA Akhil Giri has been appointed to the post. This comes a month after Suvendu left TMC and joined BJP.Sisir Adhikari, MP from Purba Medinipur Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency, however, continues to remain with the TMC, and is the Contai party president.

His younger son Dibyendu Adhikari is also a TMC MP from Tamluk constituency. Incidentally, the announcement came when Adhikari was undergoing a cataract surgery in a Kolkata hospital.
