Suvendu Adhikari releases list of '50 Bhaipo gang members' linked to TMC, alleges campus misrule after Kolkata Law College rape
Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP LoP, has accused 50 Trinamool leaders, dubbed the "Bhaipo gang," of dominating West Bengal colleges and having ties to the TMCP. This follows the rape of a law student, where the accused were allegedly linked to the TMCP....

This comes at the backdrop when a law student was raped in South Kolkata Law College on June 25. The three accused — Monojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukherjee — were arrested last Friday on charges of raping a woman inside a South Kolkata law college premises. The woman, in her complaint, had provided detailed information about the accused and the assault, following which three persons were arrested. Mishra and two others reportedly had links to Trinamool Congress’ student wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad.
Adhikari alleged that all these leaders of the "bhaipo (nephew) gang" and yield immense and accused them of unleashing terror across college campuses.
'Bhaipo' (nephew)is an apparent reference to Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, who is nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
On Saturday, Adhikari had said that there were many Monojit Mishras in college campuses across the state. “All of them enjoy close patronage of the TMC leadership and flaunt their connections with Abhishek Banerjee and other ruling party heavyweights,” Adhikari had said.
Adhikari today released a "gallery of 50 Bhaipo Gang members" on July 8, displaying names and photos of people he alleged were involved in campus-level irregularities and political clout.
