Suspension of 25 Congress MPs from Lok Sabha brings West Bengal parties closer
KOLKATA: Suspension of 25 Congress MPs by the Lok Sabha speaker has brought three mainstream political parties in Bengal -Trinamool Congress, Congress and CPM under one umbrella at least for the time being. Even though these parties are fighting each other in Bengal, they have joined hands in Delhi to oppose the suspension on the Congress MPs. BJP, however, termed the act of these three parties as a move to counter them jointly in next year's assembly elections in West Bengal.

"For the greater interest of parliamentary democracy, we are opposed to the suspension of 25 Lok Sabha MPs. We are not attending Lok Sabha from tomorrow," Trinamool Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Sudip Bandopadhyay said in a statement on Monday. Party MP, Sougata Roy said that "the Congress has sought our support to oppose the speaker's decision to suspend 25 of their MPs for five days and we have given them our support. Mamata Banerjee is in favour of our decision to support the Congress on this issue."
