LUCKNOW: Suspended IPS officer Amitabh Thakur on Sunday sent a letter through the state government to the prime minister, saying he has been suspended not for dereliction of duty or impropriety in official work but for working more. He has requested the PM to help him get justice.

Thakur said he was suspended on July 13, 2015, and given a charge sheet which had 15 charges, none of them were related with his work as inspector general civil defence, but were related to his assistance to people in getting justice and social work.He also said that he replied to the charge sheet within 24 hours but has not been reinstated till date.

Thakur was suspended on charges of indiscipline and corruption after he lodged a complaint in July against Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav of threatening him.

A vigilance probe was also ordered against him. The Vigilance department later lodged an FIR against Thakur on charges of disproportionate assets. The suspended officer claimed that Mulayam threatened him because his wife Nutan had raised the issue of corruption by a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government.
