Suspected Maoists abduct ASI in Odisha

An assistant sub-inspector of police was today kidnapped by suspected Maoists in Odisha's Nuapada district.

NUAPADA: An assistant sub-inspector of police was today kidnapped by suspected Maoists in Odisha's Nuapada district.

"An ASI has been kidnapped. We suspect that the kidnappers may be Maoists," Director General of Police (DGP) Manmohan Praharaj said.

Krupa Majhi, ASI of Dharmabandha police outpost, was escorting a water tanker to a CRPF camp at Goudha when his vehicle was waylaid and he was taken away by armed men.

The DGP said the local police was ascertaining the whereabouts of the ASI.
