NEW DELHI: Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj will travel to Beijing in the first week of February for what will be the first visit by any Cabinet minister of the NDA government to China.

Swaraj will be in Beijing for a bilateral meet with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. The two are likely to discuss the timing of a likely visit by Modi to China later this year.

An official said all key bilateral issues would be discussed during her visit with the minister also likely to call on President Xi Jinping.While Xi and Wang have travelled to India after NDA came to power, there have been few visits by the Indian side. MoS Nirmala Sitharaman is the top minister to have visited China during this period.
