NEW DELHI: Sushma Suri was today appointed on contract basis as Additional Secretary in the Department of Legal Affairs for one year.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet ( ACC) has approved her appointment for one year, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.

She retired on March 31. Her one year tenure will begin from this month.

Health Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma will hold the additional charge of chairperson, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), for three months beyond April 3, it said.

The ACC has approved six-month extension of tenure of J S Deepak, Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce. Deepak, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, will have extended tenure from April 9 to October 8, 2015, the order said.

The Grade I post held by senior IFS officer Sibabrata Tripathi has been upgraded to Secretary (Special Assignment). Tripathi, a 1979 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, will hold the upgraded post until March 31, 2015 "whereafter the post would return to its original Grade I position", it said.
